Tatting

Last night while watching tv and movies with Jim (8 Crazy Nights among others) I finished tatting the cross. (Small Cross, P.88, Tatting with Visual Patterns) I did all the rings in a lavender of size 20 and the chains (internal and external) in an off-white (I think it's just dirty) size 10. I made several mistakes including extending the top by 6 extra stitches and missing a couple picos and one join. But the overall cross looks pretty darn good, I must say!
My first big tatting project completed!!!
The receptionist is Catholic and loves purple, so I gave the cross to her. I wanted to bleach and set it, but she liked it the way it was and is planning to frame it, so she takes it home today.

I also made the rosette from the same book, at the request of another admin. (Rosette Collar, p. 68). I did it entirely in the lavender size 20. There was one petal that ended up with an extra [4ds, p] on the larger flower, but it turned out ok anyway (I chalk it up to the movie which had a three breasted woman, and that's exactly what it looked like). I didn't like the way the two flowers connected only once, and I would probably integrate picos and joins into the petals before the rings close. If I get a good working pattern, I'll post it here.
I liked the three-dimensional aspect of the flower though, and I think it would make a good largesse type gift for SCA.
The rosette went to the admin who requested it. She loved it and wants to see more.

Sorry no picts, my webcam didn't take the change in OS that I did in October. I will try to get 35mm picts of the next projects though.
