Needle Tatting

wind-lass.livejournal.comI received postings from rustymarble and moniqueleigh in the tatting community. I'll post to them directly, but also to the other friends in tatting.
Rustymarble, I know how it is to need more time. I did a counted cross stitch for my sister's Christmas gift. It ended up going out FedEx overnight to get there in time.
I started to needle tat using, Learn Needle Tatting Step-by-Step, by Barbara Foster ($12.99). I bought it at Hobby Lobby. It has very good illustrations and directions. I'm a left-handed person and on page 24 there are directions for those of us so blessed. The book also came with a needle to get started. It describes both the ring and thread and off the ball methods.
Moniqueleigh, I haven't seen the thread cutter you described. It sounds handy to have it hang around your neck.
Several years ago I bought kitchen curtains from JC Penny. They came in small, zippered bags of heavy duty plastic. I squireled them away and find them to be useful when I travel. The instructions for my latest project, thread, needles, etc. are easy to see in the bags.
Need to get on with the day.
