I promised it to her last year, and I've been puttering away at it, thinking I had all the time in the world...so I worked on it for like three hours, till after midnight, so I would have it done in time for my last day of work. Someone who's friends with her and lives nearby is going to give it to her for me.
You know what I did? I took the cardboard back of the pack of sewing machine bobbins I bought (they fit in my metal shuttle and have more room on them than the little bobbin that came with it), mesured the 3/8" I needed, and cut out a little rectangle of that size. It worked beautifully. I did a pair of mignonette fingerless gloves last year, so it was pretty simple for me.
It took me over a year to do, but then I wasn't working at it all the time. You keep going round and round with the mignonette, and I couldn't find the place where I was suppose to end! So I just randomly picked a corner, heh. I think the original pattern called for the first and last rows to be blue, but I didn't bother with that. What was really annoying was the first row of chains, they're like a textured zig-zag chain thing, *that* took a lot of patience, it felt like it was never going to end!
Thanks ^_^ I'm really proud of it, but the hanky is so dirty looking from being toted around with me for a year, I feel bad that I didn't get a chance to wash it before I gave it someone to give to the lady it's for...
