tattingA tatting group, at last! Many, many thanks, to whoever got the bright idea to create this group!

piroshki «...hi, piroshki...» and I've been tatting fairly continuously since 1982.
I learned to tat in north Sweden, where a fellow pilot told me I needed to learn patience, bodypressed me into a couch, taught me the two basic stitches, gave me a huge pattern and a hand-made wood shuttle and told me "Okay, just go".
Well, that one never got completed...truth be told, I burned the tangled mess after two weeks of pulling my hair out over it. But the habit stuck, and I can now tat while reading, watching television or movies, or just about anything that does not require at least one hand at all times.
I have done restoration for museums and insurance companies, taught, run (and disbanded) two Yahoo lace-making international exchange groups.
I've taught, including one experience at the Braille Institute (#5 Cordonnet and Tatsy shuttles. Believe it or not...they learned), and always have at least one spare shuttle with me when I'm working, in case someone comes by and wants to try their hand at it.
And I lovelovelove to tat!
