Tatting Haikus for National Poetry Month
Apr. 2nd, 2004 05:41 pmOK, gang, this is way late. Sorry, but my work puter decided to not allow logging on for more than 2 clicks per session. Grrrrrr.... Finally was able to forward this to the home puter. Hah! Take that, stupid dial-up!
Now, as Pam isn't on LJ (yet), & doesn't want her email posted, here's what I propose: Post any haikus here. In comments, in a separate post, whatever. On April 12 (the deadline, sorry that wasn't in the initial message), I'll compile 'em all & send 'em to Pam. I think they're going on the NATA site, since that's where last year's limericks are.
Tatters--
It's that time of the year again! Time for National Poetry Month! Last year I sent out directions for tatting limericks. This year, I am challenging you to tatting haiku! You remember haikus, don't you? A little three lined poem with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line, and 5 syllables in the third line. Since you only have 17 syllables in the entire poem, make every one count!
A few pointers: Haiku doesn't usually rhyme. And each line of poetry should begin with a capital letter whether it is a new sentence or not.
Here's a suggestion:
Tatting in my chair
With black kitty on my lap
Causes huge tangles.
If you send your poems to me, I'll compile them and maybe someone will open their site for these. I apologize to whoever is minding the tatting limericks; I can't remember where they are!
Have fun and get creating!
