I picked up my state fair entry today. Here's the scorecard.

AspectPoints PossiblePoints Given
Design (beauty, suitability, color)2018
Workmanship2018
Originality1515
Difficulty of project1513
Usefulness1010
Value in point of interest109
value of article in relation to work done and material used1010
TOTAL10093
Remarks: enchanting

Since they initial the cards, I noticed it was the same judge as last year. My overall decreased by 1 since last year, but the design and workmanship both increased by 1. I'm very happy about my workmanship increasing, considering it's the same judge.

Now I need to figure out what to do for next year!

Congratulations! I think I saved every rating card from the articles I put in the fair, either with the item or with a photo in the event one of them was purchased or given as a gift. (Of course, I lost 'em all when I moved, but still...)

Please excuse my feeble, aged memory...did you post a photo of the article before you entered it? I regret to admit nothing is ringing any bells at the moment...

Ahh, now I remember. I was wondering at the time; the angel looks like some of Mark Myers' designs. Is it?

It's lovely, really. You do delightful work.

It's an animated model of how a two-thread sewing machine makes a lock-stitch. I just loaded the thing not three hours ago, and I have gotten more comments about it...

If you don't do a lot of sewing - or collect vintage sewing machines, which I do - then it won't necessarily ring a bell.

Mesmerising, isn't it? I must admit to being very fond of it...

I've got a lovely pre-1950 machine (not sure of the exact year, I've got to turn the darn thing over to look for the serial # -- Eeek). I ought to have recognized it. 'Course, once I did, I was doing the duh! maneuver....

I think the newest I own is 1941; that, and the 1928 portable are both of the Little Old Black SingerTM variety, and the only electric machines I own. Everything else is either treadle or hand-crank.

I actually had a plexiglass shuttle-slide made, just so I could watch my poor 1904 27-4 go back and forth, trying to figure out how it worked, before I found this .gif and had it made into an icon...
