[identity profile] weezerscaddy.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] tatting
I have googled and googled and can't google any more.
Some of you know that I have "reconnected" with an old guy friend of mine...only now it's a bit more of a romance...
My question is...I will see him in a week or two (hopefully) and would like to knit, tat, sew, or crochet something small and simple for him.  He is a musician, and is into Star Wars (particularly the Wookiees...that's his nickname) and Real Genius.  Have seen them both, but barely remember the second.  I do everything, but must do it in a very small amount of time, in small increments.  Most of what I have found are clothes, and that's not exactly where I want to go with this.  A small toy or something like that would be frabulus.  Also, while gloves and wrist warmers are great ideas, I live in Mississippi where even the minions of Hell are pitying us most of the year, so those aren't terribly practical.  Any idea would be great, and thanks in  advance.

I don't know of any SW-related tatting stuff, but Sarah at knitting-and.com has some SW Fair Isle charts (http://knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/charts/starwars.htm)...

Maybe you could work the small ones into something like these (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTknucks.html) from the latest knitty (having the knuckles read STAR WARS, oh how geeky)... still not that useful in the heat, though. Hm. A pillow?

It seems like it would be fairly simple to come up with a tatted TIE fighter. If I didn't have a 6 week old baby I'd try to myself, but it's just not going to happen right now.

Not really what you were asking for but I tatted a celtic heart from Rozella Linden's book for my partner, and to my surprise, he was really pleased with it! It takes about an hour to make so you might want to give it a try?

What about a tatted bookmark. Even if it's not related to anything he likes, at least he can use it to mark his favorite Star Wars books, or music sheet. I know there are somewhere a pattern for tatted musical notes. Will search for them...
