I think I need some help here.  My brain isn't processing something.

! got my hands on a couple of nice candlesticks from ~bmdsm-smsejm~ and decided I wanted to do a pattern I saw in DMC Book of Charted Tatting Designs to go with them.

#42: Pleated Wax Guard

I'm stumped.

After the long beaded picot; between chains 'h' and 'i', there is a shuttle join to ring 'J'.  The problem is, ring 'J' doesn't exist at that point.  The shuttle join before that (between chains 'g' and 'h' to ring 'I') was fine.

I can't get my brain around this.  how do I do what the pattern says, and have it look like the previous join?

I confuzed....

Help?

I'm not familiar with the source. Is there a way you can either photocopy or scan the pattern? From that I can either figure it out, or fix it so it works.

An alternative is to check the publisher's website, and see if they've listed errata for the pattern.

I know the pattern but I've not done it so I can't help you yet. Have you joined etatters online? It's free and it's members are very helpful tatters. Go to mail@etatters.ning.com and ask to join. The woman who looks after it is called Kersti. I think you might get the help you need with this group.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I don't have the book in question, but I think I saw someone discussing it recently on the Yahoo group "Here Be Tatters." If etatters.ning hasn't already helped, I know the folks over at HBT would be willing.
