Sep. 2nd, 2008 09:50 amHi, I'm new to LiveJournal, live in SW MN and dabble in tatting..........*needle* tatting. Can't shuttle tat to save my life. I've been able to do just about every pattern I've tried written for traditional tatting. I've designed a few pieces, nothing large.......mostly bookmarks. Hubby makes lampworked glass beads, so I've added some of those to my tatting.......bookmarks, bracelets, etc. I also do counted cross-stitch, lucet work and crochet, so lots of hobbies to keep me occupied. Looking forward to seeing/hearing about everyone's projects.

Date: 2008-09-02 11:11 pm (UTC)congrats on creating your own patterns! I haven't tried my hand at it yet, although I will have to for a choker I'm making for a renaissance fair. must be nice to have a source for lampwork beads - so many of them are lovely.
seems that tatters are multi-crafters =) hope to see some of your work in the future

Date: 2008-09-03 06:28 am (UTC)I do remember seeing one pattern (but dratted if I can remember where it is now) that could only be done with needle. OK, technically one could do it with a shuttle, but it would require unloading the shuttle & re-winding it in a few places. :)
Me? I'm a shuttle-only tatter so far. I've got a set of needles, but I've never sat down with 'em. One of these days.....
