Baby Booties

I've been needle tatting for a couple of years now - but mostly small uncomplicated things.

A friend's pregnancy inspired me to try something a bit harder.

The pattern is by Mrs. C.B. Platt. I found her shuttle pattern online and adapted it to the needle.



I used size 20 crochet thread - which is why the end product was big enough to fit the almost 1 year old that is modeling them. I am now trying to figure out what size thread to use for a new born pair - plus I'm thinking of adding beads to the ankle ruff.

Those are darling! I seem to recall someone suggesting size 40 or 50 thread for a newborn, but I could be thinking of something else....

those are really cute! I had planned on needle tatting booties for a friend's sister's newest arrival, but I've run out of time and desire to do so (even the knitted baby socks were a flop). the green is really pretty, but yes, something smaller, even size 30, would make a difference; 40 or 50 would be closer to newborn size - it all depends on for how long/when you want the baby to wear them =)
