I'm a procrastinator (I was working on this in April!), but at least I finished my state fair project in time to have it registered for judging.

I had to do something different like this - MN State Fair actually doesn't allow tatted doilies to be entered in anything! They allow placemats and table runners and etc, ornaments, "clothing accessories", and the "other" lot, which I will be entering.

I don't know why, but perhaps most people would enter doilies if they could, and doilies are so common that they want to take away the ease of picking a random doily and making that, and perhaps making the same doily as someone else.

I suppose that does make sense... But do they allow doilies of other types (crochet, knitting, etc)?

They don't have lots for crochet or knit doilies, though they do have "other" lots under both crochet and knitting. I suppose the same fule might apply to them as well.

Yep. Sounds like. Interesting. Although the MS State Fair doesn't have that rule, I don't think I've seen 2 people do the same doily (or bookmark, ornament, etc.) more than once or twice.
